ABOUT US

The primary mission of the Department of Biological Sciences is to educate students in the fundamentals of problem solving in biological sciences through the integration of teaching and research. The program has established a strong instructional and research unit that fosters comprehensive theoretical and practical training that adequately prepares students for positions in industry, public, and private sectors.

ranked Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø among the top 10 producers of African American graduates in Biological Sciences in the nation. The program has cooperative relationships with several professional degree programs across the state of Alabama, including Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical School, and graduate-level programs.

 

PROGRAMS

Biological Sciences encompasses an extensive array of disciplines, from microbiology and genetics to ecology and evolutionary biology. As a constantly evolving field, it provides new insights and solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing our world. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Science in Biology or a Master of Science in Biology while engaging in a community where curiosity thrives and learning knows no bounds.
 
Undergraduate Concentrations: Pre-Professional Health, Pre-Nursing, Environmental Health. 

Graduate Concentrations: Microbiology, Physiology, Genetics & Molecular Biology, Ecology and Systematics, Entomology.
