Community service. History. Hands-on engagement.
Join us for Douglass Day, a national crowdsourced transcription event honoring the legacy of Frederick Douglass and Black historical preservation. Students will participate in community service by transcribing digitized Black historical documents that help make archives more accessible to the public.
In addition to transcription work, the event will include coloring and reflective writing, as well as a cookie decorating station, creating a welcoming and interactive environment for learning. While you transcribe, you’ll reflect on the power of Black history, literacy, and collective memory—using both words and creativity.
" Please bring a laptop to fully participate in the transcription portion.
This event blends service, education, and creativity, reminding us that preserving history can be both meaningful and joyful.
