Owner-Operators Give to Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø Fund
Area Chain Targets Retention Effort
The owner-operators of a popular international fast-food chain have made a contribution to an Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø scholarship fund.
In honor of Black History Month, the North Alabama McDonald’s owner-operators contributed to Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø’s Retention Scholarship Fund. The owner-operators represented businesses serving customers in Bowling Green, Ky.; Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn., and North Alabama.
Dr. Allen P. Vital, executive director of the Â鶹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø Foundation, said that the University realized that more attention needed to be directed at currently enrolled students who needed often small amounts of money to complete their degrees. To help meet this pressing need, the Retention Scholarship Fund was established, and the McDonald’s owner-operators recently donated $2,500 to that initiative.
Other institutions funded by the chain include the Chattanooga African American Museum and Bessie Smith Cultural Center, Meharry Medical College, Oakwood University and Tennessee State University.
